On the 22nd April 2018, Pink Hair hosted a Charity Hair Show to Raise money for Breast Friends Sutton Coldfield and can proudly announce a breath taking £10,164.00 was raised.
Firstly we would like to say a massive Thank You to the Pavilions at Moor Lane for letting us use the venue free of charge, and for all their help while planning our event over the past few months.
Thank you to all the ladies, gentlemen and children that joined us for a fun filled afternoon and helped us raise such an amazing amount of money.
Before our event took place the fundraising had already started, the following people made such an impact on the full amount raised for Breast friends.
- Linda Heeley founder of Pink Hair solution set herself a goal to swim 1 mile (64 lengths) and on the 22nd March 2018 Linda successfully completed the swim and raised an outstanding £1,297.50 to go to the charity
- Sea Saw Day Nursery on the Chester Road ran a fundraising week with a cake bake, car wash and wear it pink day and raised £315.00
- Carol Haines had been growing her hair for 2 years as she wanted to donate it to the Little Princess Trust. Carol had raised a astonishing £700.00 and if she were to raise £1,000 she would have her head shaved. So we sent out a bucket to our guests at the event and raised the remaining £300.00 and more, Carol in total has raised £1,230.00
What happened on the day of our charity hair show
We kick started the event with champagne and food, this gave our guest’s time to browse around many of our market stalls including: Bernie the Dress Maker, Tropic, Forever living, Hip Headwear, Bannatyne Spa, Avon, Sheer success, Foxy Lady, Amoena, Jewellery stall and Cards. This was also a chance for our guests to try their luck on the tombola and to buy raffle tickets which included some fantastic prizes which we all kindly donated.
The main event
We started our Hair show, with a bit of fun working our way through the decades from the 1960’s up to the 2000’s – we’ve included a couple of images here but please visit our Facebook page for more pictures.
Here comes the bride
Whether it is a contemporary or an alternative wedding you are looking for these looks can be achieved as shown by our models in the battle of the Brides.
The stars of the show
We had a special guest join us all the way from Ireland, Mrs Brown stole the show with her impressive dance moves. Also Michael Jackson made a special appearance to perform a famous dance routine which got all the crowd going.
Back to reality
To end the show we presented a full range of everyday wigs so ladies could see they can still achieve their desired style with a wig and be confident , we also showcased a range of headwear and fringes for people who may not want to wear a wig.
We would like to say a massive thank you to all the lovely models: Levi, Vicky, Sam, Mia, Kira, Victoria, Sammy, Kate, Tegan and Mrs Brown.
And to all the staff at Pink as the day would not have been possible without them.
At Pink we are always amazed at the bravery of those undergoing cancer treatment and the compassion of their friends and family, and this week we were privileged to meet one of them. Chloe Eylles is 12 years old and because one of her close family members has cancer, she wanted to do something to give back and support other people going through treatment. So Chloe bravely donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust.
Chloe came into the Pink salon to have a whopping 14 inches cut off her lovely long hair and we must say she looks fantastic with her new shorter style!
Chloe’s donated hair will be given to the Little Princess Trust, a charity that provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young adults who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment or other illnesses. The trust relies solely on charitable donations, so to see someone so young donating their hair for such a great cause is truly humbling.
Well done Chloe!
We are delighted to announce the details of our Spring charity event to raise money for Breast Friends.
Our event will take place on Sunday 22nd April at The Pavillions on Moor Lane in Birmingham and will be an afternoon packed with fun, fashion and fantastic prizes.
At Pink we are all really looking forward to this fundraiser, where 100% of the proceeds will be given to Breast Friends – the registered breast cancer charity. Breast Friends is run wholly by unpaid volunteers, all of whom have been diagnosed with breast cancer, and they provide a fantastic support service to local women through diagnosis, treatment and beyond from their base at Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield.
We feel very proud to be supporting this fantastic charity and through our event we hope to fundraise as much as possible to enable them to continue their vital work.
That’s where you come in…
We’d like to invite you to join us for an afternoon of hair, fashion and shopping. You’ll have chance to browse market stalls, enjoy refreshments and watch a spectacular hair and catwalk show. With a raffle, admission prize and silent auction to get involved in too, there are plenty of opportunities to walk away with a prize.
Admission is just £20, and the event starts at 1pm with welcome drinks and a buffet.
The more people who come along, the more we can fundraise for Breast Friends, so please do spread the word and help us to make this an event to remember.
For tickets or more information please call Pink on 0121 350 3826.
In April 2017, Pink Hair Solutions ran a competition to treat local ladies who are undergoing cancer treatment. The response was fantastic and we are finally able to reveal our winners and the prizes that they won.
Our beautiful competition winners are pictured below at the Breast Friends Charity Ball in December. From left to right – Debbie Lee, Gail Hooker, Lynne Turner, Sue Mills and Jenna Gaffney.
Our winners were all treated to a fully styled wig of their choice from Pink Hair Solutions, mastectomy lingerie and prosthesis from Amoena and headwear and accessories from Hip Headwear.
In addition to this, our winners also received ball gowns from Bernie the Dress Maker and a makeover by Look Good Feel Better. What nicer way to showcase our winning ladies, than at the Breast Friends Charity Ball held at Moor Hall Hotel on the 17th December 2017, organised by Jackie Benzecry and her committee. It was a successful night which was enjoyed by all.
When we launched the competition, back in April, it was our intention to choose five ladies. However, due to the overwhelming number of entries, six competition winners were eventually selected. Sadly one of our chosen ladies lost her battle before the event took place. Our condolences go out to Jane’s family and friends.
Pictured above from left to right are the people who helped make all this happen – (from left to right) Amoena representative Melanie Billings, Pink Hair Solutions Director Linda Heeley, Chairman of Breast Friends Jackie Benzecry, Founder and CEO of Hip Headwear Sabine Brannan and Bernie White founder of Bernie the Dress Maker.
For 25 years the pink ribbon has been symbolic of the support offered by Breast Cancer Care and the strength and inspiration of the people it has helped.
On Saturday 28th October we attended The Big Pink Afternoon Tea at Banners Gate Community Church in Sutton Coldfield.
The event was organised by Gilly Flower, whose daughter Vickie McHugh is currently undergoing chemotherapy so what better way to show her support than to raise money for a charity so close to their hearts. Gilly’s Friend Kim Scrivener also helped with organising the event along with Nat Scrivener , Vickie and her Best friend Leanne G who supported them with raffle prizes, auction items and collections and raffle ticket sales at her pub The Angel in Lichfield.
(Pictured above: left Gilly Flower and her Daughter Vickie McHugh)
Linda Heeley Director of Pink Hair Solutions and Sheila Coleman, pictured below, attended the afternoon tea and said what a fantastic and well organised event it was and what pleasure it was to be a part of. Gilly has since informed us that they raised a grand total of £3000.00 for Breast Cancer Care.
At Pink we offer a confidential and friendly service to ladies who are going through chemotherapy and want to know more about the wigs and hairpieces that are available. We can provide support throughout your treatment with wig maintenance and hair growth advice and our highly experienced stylists can discuss any concerns you might have during your consultation. To book an appointment please call us today on 0121 350 3826.
Please take a moment to have a look at a few of the photos taken on the day:
At Pink we cannot believe how quickly this year is going. With the clocks going back next weekend and November just around the corner it will soon be time for Christmas, and for our Pink competition winners to enjoy the most exciting part of their prize – getting dressed up for the Breast Friends Sutton Coldfield Annual Ball.
Whilst the Ball doesn’t take place until 17th December, as all ladies will appreciate, it takes time to get ready for a big night out, and that’s exactly what our Pink competition winners have been busy doing over the last few weeks!
Firstly, our ladies have been into Pink to get measured up for their wigs and also mastectomy lingerie and prosthesis by Amoena – all of which were included in the prize. Then it was on to Bernie the Dressmaker in College Road, Birmingham where our winners chose dresses from their beautiful range of gowns.
Finally, to add the finishing touches to each glamorous outfit, Hipheadwear kindly donated scarves for our ladies to wear.
We would like to thank everyone who donated prizes to our winning ladies and we are really looking forward to seeing the finished outfits at the Breast Friends Ball in December.
If you would like to find out more about the wigs and hairpieces, headwear or mastectomy lingerie we provide please call us on 0121 350 3826, pop into our Hawthorn Road salon or follow the links to browse our range.
We are delighted to announce that Pink now offer a range of luxury headwear items. This range combines fashionable styles with a comfortable fit to ensure you will look and feel great.
What makes our headwear so luxurious?
Our new range of headwear is lined with Bamboo Viscose. This is a plant-derived material and is Hypo-allergenic. The main benefits of bamboo-based fabrics is that they can help regulate your body temperature. Compared to cotton headwear items, those made with bamboo viscose are more breathable and deliver better protection from the sun’s UV rays – so you can wear them comfortably and with confidence inside and outside.
Another reason why our head wear items are so luxurious is that the material will feel very soft against the skin. This will benefit you if you are at the stage when your hair is falling out or for when the hair has fallen, as your scalp can become very sensitive.
For more information on our new range of luxury headwear items please call Pink on 0121-350-5826 or visit our store to take a look for yourself at the products we have on offer.
THEYA Healthcare Post Surgery Bamboo Bra’s – For more information please call Pink on 0121-350-5826 or watch this space as we will be blogging about our new range of post surgery bras as soon as they become available.
